Alterproduction (A project)

In an epoch when the “sustainable development” label is as successful as the hardi discount market, it remains necessary to question the relationship between conception and production… to try and go beyond the economy of gestures and means of production, to approach the self genesis of objects.

Mineral Accretion Furniture is an alternative system of production of furniture and objects, that can produce artificial reefs. It has been developed by architect and biologist Wolf Hilbertz (Symbiotic Process Laboratory / Texas University) to restore coral reefs and other kinds of ocean bottoms (fauna and flora). Can we produce objects with poor materials, elementary techniques, and in a direct relationship to the economic and environmental context?

A l’heure où le label développement durable se déploie autant que le marché du hard-discount, continuer d’interroger la relation conception/production reste nécessaire… tenter de dépasser l’économie de gestes et de moyens, tendre vers l’autogénèse.

Mineral Accretion Furniture est un système alternatif de production de mobilier et d’objets qui s’appuie sur un procédé de production de récifs artificiels développé par l’architecte et biologiste Wolf Hilbertz (Symbiotic Process Laboratory / Texas University) pour la restauration des récifs coralliens et des fonds marins en général (faune, flore). Où comment à partir de matériaux pauvres, de dispositifs techniques primaires, dans une relation directe au contexte économique et environnemental, peut-on envisager de produire des objets.
